What an update!!!

Wow.... this is going to be a good one...

SHE IS HERE!!!!!

Kennedi Megan Pitts arrived at 5:26pm on August 7, 2008. I guess the doctors were right because she weighed in at 8lbs 14oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Thank goodness for epidurals!! Now after having one I really wonder how I went through 2 deliveries without one. I really was crazy!!!

She is absolutely the most beautiful little girl. She looks a lot like her daddy!! She got his cheeks.

How it happened.... ha ha well I am sure most of you know how it happens but I mean the start of labor. I was at work yesterday and Chris talked me into calling my doctor about a question that I had about my water leaking. So of course, I always listen to him and I called. Well they told me to head over to the hospital and be monitored. When I got there, they checked me to see if my water had broken, it had not broken but was leaking so they decided to go ahead and break it. They did that at about 145pm and started me on some pitocin about 200pm. By 529pm Kennedi was here!! YEAH!!!

I had not had a long labor with any of my kids but this one was the quickest (and I liked that)!! Avery is so proud to be able to say he is still my biggest baby. He has Kennedi beat by one ounce. That is really a record that I would rather not try to beat!!

She did great last night in the hospital. Two different times she slept for 4 hours between feedings. It was wonderful but also something that I know we should not get used to. I am sure that wont last.

We were discharged this evening and got home a little while ago. The hospital was great but there is no place like home!!!

I am going to download some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow I am sure. I will probably write more later but right now I have a little girl that is crying and probably wants to eat!!

39 week doctor appointment and work....

Hey everyone....

The past two days have been pretty full with events but not enough of them deal with the baby. Yesterday morning we went to school so the boys could see where their homerooms were located. It went smoothly of course and only took a few minutes. Then it was on to my doctors appointment where I really expected to have some news on the progress of Kennedi. Well, that did not happen!! First we got there and they took my blood pressure. It was higher than I think it has ever been in my life at 150/87. They immediately had me lay down on my left side for about 15 minutes and then took it again. I tried to relax as best as I could and get out of my mind that I may have to give birth to a baby the size of a 2 or 3 month old. I guess I got that and all the anxiety out of my mind for a few minutes because my blood pressure went down to 110/78. Of course Chris was in there telling me that I needed to relax, the baby might not be as big as they think and all that other husbandly advice that you don't want to hear because they have not been through the birth of a huge baby. Bless his heart he is trying so hard to do whatever he can to make me less miserable than I am at times.

Anyway, back to the appointment. Just like every other appointment the nurse came in and listened to the heartbeat which was great at like 142 and then she measured my huge belly. This week I was measuring 40 weeks. I guess that is good, she must not have gained too much weight in the past week. Or so I hope!!

Then the doctor came in to check me.... I so expected to be told that I was dilated a little more and that it was not going to be much longer. Well I did not get any of that!!! "In fact that was no change since last week. Still a 3 and I guess the baby is not down far enough (which I would like to argue since often when I walk I feel like she is going to fall out)!! But what do I know, I am not in the medical field. Then the doctor said something that almost made me hop out of the chair and tackle her..... She said they will let me go another week, maybe two. I was about to cry. Then I asked about the size of the baby and if they would let me go that long and she replied, "well and 8 or 8/12 pound baby is still considered normal". Hmmm I wonder if she has ever given birth to a baby that was 8 1/2 pounds... BECAUSE I HAVE AND THAT IS NOT NORMAL!!! She just dropped down to the bottom of my favorite person list.

So needless to say, there was no talk about an induction date and she said.. We will see you back in a week. Oh wonderful.. I can't wait!!

So today I went back to work!! Never thought that I would have to start the year but I did. It was the first day of school so I did not have any students. I cant believe that people work everyday this pregnant. I am so exhausted and so swollen from being on my feet and walking around. And to think, tomorrow I get to do it all over again. Gee I can't wait!

On a side note.... Kennedi will have a great time this fall watching two of her big brothers play football! Avery is signed up for tackle (11-12 league)... all 65 pounds of him and Conner made the middle school football team and has been getting his butt kicked since last week with conditioning. She is going to learn early how to cheer for her favorite teams!!!

Until next time, everyone please pray that I do not make it to my next doctors appointment!!

still waiting...

Well I just wanted to send another quick update since I have been getting a lot of calls and emails asking if there is a baby yet.... Unfortunately NO there isn't. I wish that I could say different. I am so ready for Kennedi to be here.

I really thought that within 24 hours of my last doctors appointment that I would be in the hospital so I am a little frustrated and disappointed. If she was born Friday the timing would have been perfect, now she ideally cant come until next Friday because of things that are going on with schedules. I just hope that she decides to cooperate and not come until Friday.

I have had some little pains here and there. I am not sure they are contractions. It has been almost 12 years since I have felt them so I am hoping I can tell when they are here. At least I hope I can tell soon enough to let Chris know so he can make the hour and 15 minute drive home from work.

Well again, the next appointment is Tuesday afternoon and I will let y'all know how that goes...

Have a great weekend, what is left of it...

38 week doctor's appointment....

Hey everyone,

Chris and I went to the doctors again today for my appointment.... The best news for me was that I actually lost a pound!!! YEAH!! I guess not eating very much at all did this. I eat a few bites and I am full. I wish that part would /last after Kennedi is born but I know it won't. My blood pressure was very good once again, 128/78. I can't believe that it has been pretty consistent the whole pregnancy. And I am now dilated to a 3... woo-hoo 3 down and 7 to go.... hey I have to look at the positive. While we were there the doctor did some things to try to speed things along... I just hope they work.. I had said all along that I wanted an August baby and not July so now she is good to go...

They are guessing that she is about 8lbs right now and I am already measuring 40 weeks. YIKES. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, KENNEDI COME TOMORROW!!!

Chris took me to the mall after my doctors appointment today and we walked and that was about all we did. I only bought a shirt! Me.. Mall... one shirt... and that shirt was not even for me, it was for Avery.... I did go into gymboree and wanted to get Kennedi a cute outfit there that was on sale but Chris said no!! I guess looking at her closet she doesn't need any more clothes until she is about 13. My niece came over the other day to look at the nursery and the statement she made was... "gosh she has more clothes than I do". Out of the mouths of 16 year olds...

Well I guess that is all for now. Its time for me to sit down and relax. Hopefully Chris will have the next post saying that I am in the hospital and that Kennedi is here. My next appointment is Tuesday but I think everyone is hoping I don't make it back for that one.

Have a great weekend...
