Just one more day....

Tomorrow is the day.....

It IS back to school tomorrow and I am bummed that summer will officially be over for the kids but that is not what we are talking about here.

Tomorrow is Kennedi's birthday!! Wow a year already...

I am doing this today in case things are hectic tomorrow. Chris is going to be off for the next 3 days and we have a lot to do to get ready for the big birthday party.

Almost this time last year it was this.....

and this

And now it is more like this.....

and this

The changes that take place in a year are absolutely amazing. Babies come into this world completely dependent on moms and dads and by a year they barely need you. Well OK they do still need you a lot but they try not to!

This week Kennedi has popped 2 more teeth. She has a molar and then 8 total in the front (4 upper and 4 lower). I just hope when we get her pictures taken on Saturday and Tuesday we get to see some of those pearly whites.

A little before 11 months old she was walking, now at a year she is trying to run! And I am trying to keep up with her. It's not as easy at 37 as it was at 22 but it sure is just as fun!

Kennedi is turning into a little chatterbox. I have NO IDEA what she is saying but I think she does. She says momma and dadda sometime I think its comes out daddy. She has also added Kitty Cat and doggy to her vocabulary.

The expressions she makes and the things she does are priceless. I really wish I was better at taking the videos and pictures. I forget about the video camera and I am so frustrated with my camera but I need to stay on it. I don't want her to be that 3rd child with no pictures! There are things that crack Chris and I up and then of course if I don't write them down (which I mostly don't) I forget what they are when I sit to do the blog.

I guess that's all.. I am not going to write much about school tomorrow since it seems no one is looking forward to it. There are a lot of kids that Conner went to elementary school with and that were separated for middle school but starting tomorrow they will all be together again! Conner is excited to see many of them again.

We have both boys teachers and I think they will both have a great year!! GOOD LUCK TOMORROW CONNER AND AVERY!!!!

not too much on the homefront...

I just saw where its been a week since my last post. Then I sat down and tried to think of what has been going on this week. I can't think of much to write about.

The boys are at their dads for two weeks, well one more week and they will be home.

They seem to be having a good time over there, they went to Panama City for a day. Conner has been saying that he wants to go sometime since that is where all his friends go. I have never been down there. Chris and I had been trying to think of what to do for a possible trip Labor Day weekend and that was one of the places (not real high on my list). Conner told me that it was OK. When I asked him if it was worth going back to or should we go to the Ocean side he told me it would depend on who else was down there. He is one that likes the waves (like his mom) so I guess the answer is.. if a hurricane is coming, take a quick trip to the gulf.

We are back to square one with Labor Day ideas. Of course that is opening day for Auburn football and we do have season tickets. Sad thing is I am not real excited about this season (which is probably why I am willing to miss that game for a trip somewhere).

Oh well, we have some time before we have to set things in stone.

This coming week will be a little hectic I think. Kennedi turns 1 on Friday, with her party this weekend also. That seems so strange. I still remember sitting up in the middle of the night wondering if she would sleep through EVER. It seems like just yesterday.

Friday the boys also start back to school. WHY ON A FRIDAY???? I am so not ready for it!! Where did the summer go? Did we even have a summer?

The boys are not the only ones starting school soon. Kennedi is starting too... well not school but Mother's Morning Out. She is going to be heading to school 1 day a week. I hope she does well. Chris and I wanted to make sure she is socialized with kids her age since she is the baby by a lot of years. I guess I will have time to do some solo grocery shopping.

Well I guess that's all. I am sure later I will think of something that has happened this week but right now I just can't think of a thing!! Its really calm around here with the boys gone. Actually its a little too calm!!

1st official pair of shoes

Since Kennedi is walking all over the place Chris and I decided it was time to get her fitted and get a real pair of shoes for her to wear. She has been wearing her little keds and sandals from time to time but she has not been fitted for a real pair. We took her to stride rite on Friday for their fall sale. When she was measured they told us she should try a 4 1/2. I was a little shocked since she has been wearing size 3. Bad Mommy!!

Daddy is sitting with Kennedi who is waiting to put on her new walking shoes.

Kennedi is looking at the sales girl thinking.. what are you doing to me?? I am not sure I want these things on my feet.

Oh I see, I am able to balance so much better with these on. Maybe they are not so bad after all.

Look Mommy, I'm a big girl now!!

Since we got the shoes Kennedi has been walking all over the place even better than before. She has not tried to take them off and has only untied them once. So far so good!!

New clean, white shoes... but not for long I am sure!!

After we got her shoes we took her to lunch. The boys missed out on this since they were still at home asleep when we left the house. I got Kennedi a quesadilla because that is what she always eats when we go to a Mexican restaurant but yesterday she decided that she did not want that. she wanted mommy's burrito.

The last few days...

The last few days at the beach were wonderful but may have been a little too quiet! Kennedi was running a fever for a few days. She cut a tooth while we were at the beach and was miserable. Even being miserable she was a trooper.

The water was warm and the sky was clear. The boys got to do a lot of skim boarding and some boogie boarding. I even got in the water a lot with them. One day it was pretty rough but the waves were fun. I was exhausted that evening! Summer of 08 I could not go in the water and have fun like I am used to doing. I was less than a month from my due date and I certainly did not want to give birth at the beach, let alone on the beach!

Kennedi is trying to tell me she is ready to start surfing.... I think I will make her wait a year or two.

Conner is having some sister time. Kennedi loves the time with her brothers.

My sister Barbie was able to have Kennedi sit still long enough to rock her to sleep on the beach. This is rare since Kennedi does not want to miss a thing!

My sisters and I took an evening and went down to the beach to take a few pictures together. Now I thought getting kids to cooperate long enough to get a good picture was hard. I think getting the three of us to have a decent picture taken was even worse! We had 3 cameras and ended up going down to the beach two different times only to find 2 or 3 pictures that were possibly decent enough to print out.

ok so this is not one of them.....

Here is just one of the might be a decent one. I personally did not like any of them but it pictures have inspired me to get my butt back into the gym!!!

With Kennedi having been sick the last few days I was really worried about the drive home. She was not the best traveller on the way up so I was sure we were in for a long ride on the way home. To my surprise, Kennedi was WONDERFUL! I may even have to say she was the best one of the three kids. OK, maybe not. The boys are great travelers and always have been.

I guess that wraps up the beach trip. It was uneventful in a good way! A relaxing almost two week trip that we already look forward to next year!

Just a few pictures from week 1.....

Since I have been so bad about update this past week I wanted to add some pictures. Chris had to go back to work today so last night we headed out for the 2 hour drive to the airport. I was so happy that I did not hit any traffic. The part I don't like is that as I was pulling into the driveway at the beach house I was getting a text from Chris saying that he had landed in Atlanta.

He has never been away from Kennedi this long but at least he has work to keep him busy... for the next 19 days straight... UGH!!

The boys are a little bummed since summer is just about over. When we get home they start school less than 2 weeks later. I think we need an extended summer... I am so not ready for the kids to go back. I really love having them home with me all day long. I think they are going to have trouble leaving Kennedi. It is unbelievable to see them with her and to see how much they adore her (and how much she loves them!!).

The first week we had 2 houses and they were both filled with people. At one time I think it was 25 people we had. With that many here we were still missing a few...
and then we took one of the just the grand kids and great grand kids. Once again we were missing a few.

Conner and Avery have become really good at the skim board the past few years. I get a little nervous with the many broken bones we have had but they seem to bounce pretty good on the sand when they go down... here they are posing before hitting the water.

For a few days Kennedi was not sure of the sand or the water. Of course on Chris' last day she started to walk into the water... yes I said WALK... She has become quite good since we have been here. Here are a few of her playing in the sand and water....

Chris and Kennedi got to spend a lot of time together this week. I think they both really enjoyed it.. I love the picture of the two of them on the beach. It is probably one of my favorite pictures of the two of them.

Of course we had to take the token family picture on the beach.. YUCK!! The sun was out and shining so we all had our eyes squinted pretty badly... but a few turned out great!

Chris looking very relaxed.... I think he needs to take a week off more often!!

and to end this update, here is one of the 3 babies of the family. Meredith and Ryan are great grands and then of course Kennedi is a grand.....
