What a day today was!! I did not plan to have Kennedi anywhere yet but unfortunately she had to have her first outing today....
When we were discharged from the hospital yesterday Kennedi's bilirubin count was a little high. They still let us go home but told us we had to go get blood drawn today for a retest to see if the count had gone down. So, her first outing consisted of a return trip to the hospital, thankfully it was to the lab. We got a call a few hours later that her count was still high. Actually it was higher than when we left the hospital. Thankfully we were already discharged when we knew this or I would have been leaving the hospital today without her since they would have wanted her levels down before she went home.
Since we were already home our pediatrician told us we had to put her until the bili-blanket. Now both Conner and Avery were jaundiced when they were babies but apparently they were not as bad because this was a new thing for me.
We sat around most of the night waiting for the medical equipment people to bring the stuff to get her levels down. The sad part is that Kennedi has to lay on this light and under a blanket most of the day. I guess it is not so bad right now because its night time and she is going to bed (hopefully for a few hours at a time). But tomorrow she will once again have to spend most of the day in this contraption. I have not decided yet if I am going to take pictures of her in it or not.
Anyway, tomorrow morning we have to go back to the hospital and have more blood drawn to see if the number has come down. Poor thing, between this and having her blood sugar checked like 3 times because of her weight (more heel pricks), Kennedi is going to have the most bruised feet!!
Despite all of this, She is still completely beautiful and such a wonderful baby!! We will post more tomorrow after we find out how the blood work turns out...
Have a wonderful weekend...

Hugs girl Tali had jaundice too (her levels were around 16'ish) she didn't have to be on the bili blanket but we were in the dr's office a lot :-( I don't get why they have to check her blood sugar. That doesn't make sense to me. Emma was 8lbs 10 oz, Grace was 8lbs 12 ozs and Will was 9lbs 6 ozs and none of them had to have anything "invasive" because they were bigger. Keep us posted. Hugs and hoping she doesn't have to keep getting her heel stuck.
