That time of the year again!

Yes it is!!

The time of year that all moms get a little nervous about and all kids live for!!

BASEBALL SEASON!!

Well maybe not ALL moms but I know the one in this house does. Making the baseball teams in this area is very competitive. These boys work all year long on their conditioning, so they can be in shape for this week of a lot more running!!

Lots of running, fielding, hitting!! Well maybe not so much fielding since its raining today and is supposed to be this way most of the week but... thankfully the cages are indoor!

So just want to say...

GOOD LUCK TO CONNER AND ALL THE OTHER BOYS TRYING OUT FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL TEAM!!!!

Kennedi's 1st Braves game!!

My nephews birthday was this week and a bunch of the family and friends went to the braves game.

Let me tell you... IT WAS HOT!!! (note to self: no more day games)...

We had a lot of fun and Kennedi was great! Chris and I actually took Kennedi and sat under the shade and it made the game a lot more enjoyable.

The braves won!! I guess Kennedi is good luck (or at least I think she is).

I am waiting (patiently.. kind of) for the pictures that were taken at the game. I will post some of them as soon as I can!

Sports and School.... and SUMMER!!

I am a little bummed right now, baseball is coming to an end. The high school season is over on Saturday after the boys double header. I have really enjoyed watching Conner (well the whole team really) play this season. I wish it was a longer season but I know that next year on JV and then after that on Varsity it goes longer.

Conner had a workout last night with one of the travel teams here. I guess the downtime will not be too long before he starts with baseball again. He was accepted to play on the travel team and will only have a month off before starting over with summer ball. We are new to all the travel baseball team stuff but I am excited for him to keep playing. He grew up only playing rec ball. I wish we started him in travel ball a lot earlier but we didn't and all I can do is learn for when the girls are involved in sports. It is so competitive down here (most sports are) that the kids really need to play at a high level earlier.

But anyway, he is on to travel ball this summer. I need to call and get all the details on it but I do know that most weekends will be spent on the ball field. That will be fun once July hits and I have a toddler and a newborn out there watching big brother play. I told Conner that I may miss a tournament but my goal is to only miss that first one after the baby is born.

Ahh summer ball means summer is almost here. We have less than 9 weeks left of school. I CAN'T WAIT!!! It has been a rough year since Christmas break (with Avery). I was up at school yesterday with an impromptu meeting but it was actually a great meeting and I really think he is on course to end the school year on the right foot. He is so smart and such a little boy! He was so relaxed going to school this morning and that has not happened much the past few months.

Tonight is a lacrosse game for Avery but unfortunately he is at his dads house and they will not let him play. It is supposed to rain/thunderstorm here today and I am hoping it is going to so that Avery doesn't have to miss his game. Well I want it to rain for both Avery and my sinuses. I can't wait to see him on the lacrosse field next week at his game. He is excited about getting out there!

Well I guess that is all for now... wanted to update on the week and I am sure I will update again this weekend after the last baseball game!! SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!!!

High School Baseball!

Conner started playing baseball (well t-ball) at 4. When I would go to his practices and games we had to drive past the 13/14 fields and I thought to myself many times, "Wow it is going to be forever until Conner is old enough to play here but so much fun to watch because by then he will KNOW baseball".

Well I blinked and he was on those fields.....

I blinked again and he was in high school!!

Yesterday was another day that many parents I know have been waiting for. The first time to watch my son play baseball in his high school uniform and on his high school field.

Well the game was away so tomorrow will be the high school field moment.

I have to admit my eyes got watery when I saw him in his uniform ready to play the game!

CONGRATULATIONS CONNER!! WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

As I sit and wait for snow...

Ahh gotta love the south. We had the threat of snow for today. It was actually supposed to start by 9am... then they said 10am... then they said noon... guess what??? We have not seen a flurry!! Nope, nothing... and on top of it all, because of the "threat" of snow, they canceled school for today. Yup that is correct, no school and no snow!

So as i sit here in my kitchen, looking out the window and waiting patiently not so patiently for the snow I thought I would jot down some things that took place this week!

I think I mentioned this but I need to do it again...

CONNER MADE THE 9th GRADE BASEBALL TEAM!! I am so happy for him. I have to admit that I was a little worried. Many of these kids have played on travel teams that were very serious about baseball. Conner has always played in the local rec league coached by dads. I cant wait to see how he progresses with the coaching that he will now have!

Avery, well Ave is struggling in school at the moment. It is nothing that he cant correct but I think 7th grade is a challenge. We were supposed to have a conference with two of his teachers today but due to the cancellation of school (because of this threat of a blizzardan inch of snow) we did not have it. But Avery knows what he needs to do and he is getting it done!

Kennedi, she continues to be a mess. Stepping into those terrible two's and I am hoping stepping out quickly. I bought her a potty this week and was hoping that she would sit on it and just get used to the idea of having one. I do not expect the potty training thing to start for awhile. She is funny when she wants to "go potty". She will sign the potty sign to me and we head into the bathroom where she proceeds to take off ALL HER CLOTHES. Yup, she wants to be naked when she sits on the potty. Ugh what a chore!!

The other day I was sitting in there with her (no I was not on the potty but the floor) and I went upstairs to get a new diaper. When I left she had a red face so I figured she was messing with me. When I came back down she had used the potty!! I was so proud of her. She looked into it and saw what she did and got scared. Once she saw Conner and me clapping for her she got this look on her face of accomplishment. It was so cute.

I told Conner to get my phone and his exact words were, "mom, you are not going to take a picture of that"....

um.. of course I am, if I don't send it to Chris he would never believe that she pooped on the potty!! DUH! Don't worry, I am not posting the picture on here.

Since then, nothing but stripping down and sitting on the potty.

On a sad note, one of our dogs is not doing so well. Poor boy is only 6 but has never been very healthy. He is not able to stand up by himself in the mornings and spends most of the day laying there. I hate to look at his deep brown eyes and try to figure out what they are telling me. I am hoping that one morning I am going to go downstairs to let them out and he is going to pop up like he used to but I am not sure it is going to happen.

Ahh what a week it has been!!

Hopefully I will have some pictures later, I sure would like to see Kennedi play in a little bit of snow!!

Congratulations Conner!!

All the hard work and years of practice and games have paid off! Conner made the high school 9th grade baseball team!

All the early years when he was this little....

and we didn't know where it would lead....

and then he grew up to this...

I have to admit that I was VERY nervous... so nervous that I really have not slept since last Sunday, the day before try-outs started! There were so many talented boys trying out and Conner has never been in this position before.

It is wonderful that he gets to play for a baseball program that won state last spring. The coaches that lead the team and wonderful and I can't wait to see how much Conner will develop as a player under their instruction!!

CONGRATULATIONS CONNER!!!

GO VIKINGS!!!

Weekend Wrap-Up...

Well lets see if I can even remember what went on this weekend.....

Friday night was actually an easy night this weekend. Conner stayed home!! Can you believe it?? Well his girlfriend came over and they watched a movie. I got to meet her for the first time. She seems really nice and is adorable. Of course I was not going to embarrass him this early and take pictures of them but I really did want to!! Well I didn't want to embarrass him but I did want to take pictures.

The next day we moved to the weekends festivities.... Avery with lacrosse and Conner with baseball. I know that is shocking but yes we survived. Avery's team lost and Avery did not have his best game. I actually asked him after the game is he would rather switch and do something else... like ballet! He was not the only one that was no on that morning. The whole team seemed off a little bit.

We had to travel about an hour for Conner's tournament this weekend. Saturday they split the two games (won one and lost one). Conner went 1 for 5 but had all hits. Most of them were pretty solid hits too but just placed wrong. I was happy he had no strike outs..... well until Sunday! Sunday was another story, I guess it was Northgate's turn to just not seem into it. We lost and it was not until the end of the game where they looked decent. We just could not hit. That is OK, we lost, we move on and we look towards the next tournament, in two weeks.. I think.

Poor baby Kennedi... She is so sweet even when she is sick! When we got home from Avery's lacrosse game Chris noticed that she was a little warm. She was running around playing at the game, learning to kick a ball. Yes, I am still hoping for 1 soccer player out of the crew!! But when Chris took her temp it was at 101. No baseball for Kennedi! Chris stayed home with her and I took Conner. Avery actually opted to stay home too (he does not enjoy watching baseball games). I have to admit that after Chris sent me this picture I am not sure I will leave her home with him anymore...

I think I may have to burn that paci! Poor baby but its OK she will still learn to say WAR EAGLE pretty soon (even after that game on Saturday)!

Today Kennedi woke up and was doing great all day long.
She liked to climb up the ladder....

and then slide down the slide....

I loved the way she went down the slide all by herself... She did too... Avery had her on the playground and said she would climb and slide then climb and slide.

Then when we got home and getting ready for bed tonight she seemed a little warm again. I got the courage up to take her temperature. I HATE to take temperatures of babies!! I like it so much better when they can hold that thermometer under their tongue. I was really upset when it beeped and said 102.1!! Ugh more medicine. She is now upstairs and sleeping soundly. I hope it breaks tonight and that she will be fever free tomorrow. I don't want her to miss school on Tuesday! She is starting to do so well there!

I guess that is all for now. Enjoy the cute video and not so cute picture. Well she is cute in the picture but the little prop that was in it.. not so much!!

ahhh the weekend!!

It takes so long for weekends to get here and when they do they go by way to fast! Chris was off yesterday so we had a date day. We have not left Kennedi behind to do something fun as a couple since the UGA vs Auburn football game the second weekend in November. I guess we were due!

It so happens that we were due on the weekend that Boston was in town playing the Braves! What a series!! Now I am a Braves fan but when the Orioles and Boston are in town I do pull for them. I guess growing up in Baltimore and going to Memorial Stadium and later Camden Yards will do that to you. The Boston liking I guess I get from my boys. They have been Red Sox fans since, well, birth. I guess their dad got to them before I did with baseball and got them really into the Red Sox.
We got up and dressed Kennedi into a really cute outfit! I have been waiting all summer for her to wear this outfit and it finally arrived!! Isn't she just too cute in her little Boston dress with that huge bow in her hair!! Yes, I do know the bow is as big as her head but hey, after having 2 boys I am loving that I can put them on her head!! I think she looks so old in this picture.
Here is our little cheerleader... This is about the only time she will be a cheerleader (we hope) unless its Halloween... I cant wait to sign her up for soccer and lacrosse and softball and swimming and whatever else she wants to try (but not too soon). But, for now we will let her be a cheerleader.
Chris and I got tickets for yesterdays game and of course he wore his Braves hat and I put on Avery's Red Sox hat. We went to lunch before hand at a sports bar in Atlanta that was very good. We were stuffed and ended up not eating dinner.
Turner Field was PACKED! There were more Red Sox fans there than Braves fans, which I guess is kinda sad but it was fun. Our seats were great and the usher (an older man) kept us very entertained. It was so hot the whole game... I had my first beer in a year and a half. I have to say it tasted very good!!
The game was pretty boring. I wanted to good close game but I also wanted some scoring. As you can see there was not much of that!
But we survived and the Red Sox came out on top. I was even a good fan and did not run it in to Chris after the game. I think it was just way too hot and I wanted to get into the jeep and the A/C.
Today the boys are going to the game with their dad and I hope they get to see a good game. I am sure they are decked out in their Boston jerseys and hats looking very cute!
I guess it is back to reality. Chris is back to work, I have cleaned the basement (well one room of it) and Kennedi is up in her crib sleeping soundly. The boys come home tonight and we will enjoy a week at the pool and mentally prepare to run the Peachtree Road Race on Saturday (a 10K through a part of Atlanta). Its so much fun and I hate every minute I am running it! It should be a lot better this year since it is not just me running but also Chris, Conner and Avery!! Whew!!

Last Baseball Post... and other things....

.... I should say last baseball post for about a month. We have no tournaments scheduled in July and will start up again in August. YAY!!! I have to say that I am excited to start with this tournament team. I hope the boys have a lot of fun while staying in the swing of things for their high school tryouts in the spring (or late winter).

Conner's team lost their game last night which ended our season. It was sad because it was the last season in rec ball but it was wonderful because it was our last season in rec ball!! Now on to more exciting play! Now on to buying a new bat for Conner so he can get used to the -3 bat (since that is what they have to use in high school).

Now on to the "other things". I had more blood drawn at the doctors today. They have to keep checking the HCG (i think it is) level and follow it down to 2. Last week it was 202 so I am hoping that it will be about 50 or less this week. I was told that it drops in half about every 3 days or so, sometimes a lot quicker. I have to wait until Monday to get those results but I already have my appointment for next Thursday in case the levels were not low enough this week. I have to say that I cant wait until this part is over!!

I guess that is about all for now. Kennedi is taking a nice long nap today and I am trying to get some things done in the house before the beach trip in two weeks. YAY!! Only 2 weeks until we have some relaxation.... oh wait, there will be no relaxing this year we have a 10 month old! What was I thinking?!?!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! ..and yet again, more baseball...

While everyone in the house is sleeping I thought that I would take a few minutes to wish all the dads out there a great day!

Conner and Avery go to their dads at 8am today. Yes it is a little early to wake up in the summer but I asked them both numerous times yesterday and Friday if they wanted to go to their dads last night so they could sleep in. Both answered no each time. I figured they would want to sleep in since we were up so early yesterday for Conner's baseball game. But I have to say that I am glad they stayed. I love the time with the kids (even though they drive me nuts sometimes).

They are great kids! When I asked Avery why he didn't want to go to his dads he told me he wanted to also get to celebrate father's day with Chris. I thought that was sweet! It has been a rough week or so and Avery is so thoughtful. We did get to celebrate last night. The boys and Kennedi gave him his Father's Day gift. Chris has been dropping subtle not so subtle hints that he wants a cordless drill. He had one but it finally died months ago. Well now he has one!! I hope its a decent one since I am clueless on them or even why there is such a need for them. It is not like he has time to start major projects for the house. But he was very happy he got one and now wishes he had it weeks ago when he was replacing all light fixtures in the old house.

Chris has his day pretty much planned out, or at least his afternoon. I am sure that many of you can guess what he will be doing.....

That's right!! He will be sitting at the baseball fields cheering on Conner and his team. I told him that he did not have to go if he didn't want to. I figured a day of being lazy would be on his agenda but then again even when we have nothing to do (which is rare) he still has to find something to do around the house. He is not one to sit on the couch and just veg. Oh there are times I wish he would!

OK back to Conner. We played game 1 of the state tournament and somehow we won. The boys did not look great, but in the last minute inning it all came together. I think they were saving all the good plays for today's game. We were down 5-0 and won it 6-5. Whew it was a nail biter for sure. Conner gets a hit and as he is running the bases he sees that no one is on third. Apparently that is all he sees because the Short stop was standing about 2 feet away from him with the ball. So Conner starts to go to third and realizes where the ball is. DUH! He gets himself into a pickle. I am having a heart attack on the sidelines wondering what in the hell he was doing. Yes I did ask him what in the hell he was thinking when he came in.

Anyway, somehow the kid gets himself out of the pickle and was safe at second. Once my heart restarted and I decided I was not going to make him walk the 30+ miles home. I calmed down. He laughs about it! After the game he came up to me and said, Mom that really was not smart base running. Well no S**T! I really hope that he goes back to the smart base running today. I can't handle another one like yesterday.

So at 4pm we will be sitting 30+ miles from home playing a team that we play here in the league. Who does these brackets anyway?? Cant we just play this one on the home field??? GOOD LUCK NATIONALS!! BEAT THOSE ANGELS!!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!!!!
