Happy 6 Month Birthday Kennedi

Wow.. it is hard to believe today is February 7 (and it is almost 5pm when I am writing this). 6 months ago today I was laying in a hospital bed about to give birth (5:27 to be exact.. or maybe it was 5:26?!?!). I can't believe how fast it has gone and in that short time Kennedi has gone from this itty, bitty baby (if you can be that at almost 9lbs) to the crazy baby she is today. She does now know what it is like to stay still for 3 minutes! Chris and I went shopping today and while we are out Chris wanted to go look for a walker for her. She has one at Grandma and Papa's house and LOVES it! We went to Toys R Us and of course they had a great one. Many of the walker are too short for her even when it is on the tallest level. We found one that is a little tall for her still but she will be in it in no time I am sure. She loved it in the store! We also got her 2 cute V-tech toys. Chris said she needed some more toys that interact with her so we were going to get her one. Well I shop a lot better without Chris! She ended up getting two new toys (not counting the walker). Chris would try toys in front of her and there were two that she LOVED. She would kick and squeal when they made noises. Those were our winners today!

We got home and put the walker together and it took Kennedi about 2 minutes to figure it out. She is so funny. The video below is her trucking along in the walker. Not bad for a 6 month old! She was also laying on her belly today and she almost got up on one knee. I am praying that does not happen too soon. I am not ready for the crawling stage. She has figured out to scoot forward she could put her head down and move her legs in and that works for her... for the time being at least. Well, enjoy the video and have a great weekend...

We have a sitter!!

Wow what an exciting week!! First of all the video I took today. It is so cute and Kennedi is amazing. Of course I am going to think that, she is mine!! I got this video but it does not show nearly the length that she actually sat. I put her down and she was playing with toys, I walked outside to get the mail and when I came back in she was still sitting, then I took this video until she toppled over. She would much rather sit than be on her tummy or back! Every time she falls she fusses until I put her back into the sitting position.
This week has been a pretty fussy week for Kennedi. I do not know if it is because she misses her brothers (they are at their dads house) but she has been unusually fussy. Chris thinks she is about to cut not one but two teeth! I can't see it as well as he can but he seems to think in the next few days or so we may have a tooth. I still think she is a little young for all that. Either way it would be nice to know why she is so fussy these days.

Conner and Avery are doing great! Conner has started back to baseball and has a practice game on Sunday. He is really hitting well this year! I can't wait to see him in a game setting. This is his last year in rec ball. Its hard to believe that this time next year (hopefully) we will be watching him play high school ball. Avery starts lacrosse soon. His age group has the travel league and then the middle school league. Many kids play both but Avery has decided not to play middle school ball and stick to travel. He is not ready to dedicate 5-6 days a week to lacrosse. I am good with that! I told him once he hits high school it is an everyday activity. Thankfully we have a few years for that.

This has been an eventful week for more than just the kids. Maverick, our 4 year old Belgium Shepherd went in to get fixed. Poor guy! Conner told me that I was horrible for doing that to him but hey, it was time. He is doing great! When I went in to talk to the vet yesterday about an infection he has (the dog, not the vet), I was also informed that the poor dog had a stick lodged in the roof of his mouth. I felt horrible for not knowing but the vet assured me that this is a common thing and that Maverick did not show any signs of this problem. The vet was shocked that this happened and did not see it until they went to intubate Maverick. Today he is running around like nothing ever happened to him. I am trying to keep him in a lot so that he stays calm, all I need is for him to be running in the woods and have something happen to him. I also thought that my kids were high maintenance until I saw the bill for the vet. I then realized that my dog is more than my kids! Amazing what we do for our four legged friends!!

Well I think that covers the events of this week (so far). I am sure much more could happen being that it is only Wednesday. I hope everyone has a great week!

Bath time...

I am sure one day Kennedi will kill me for this update but until then I have to post these pictures. She is just too cute! She LOVES her bath time and is really getting into playing in the water. Today Chris was bathing her before he went to work and I walked in to see her laying on her stomach. I had no idea that it was even OK to have her in like this let alone try it. She was having a blast kicking her little legs and splashing water everywhere. She would kick so hard she would move from side to side in the tub and even a few times pushed herself to the front. Chris kept moving her up just to have her start all over again.
It was funny to see all the toys in the tub with her. Of all of them her favorite is her little yellow ducky. She will spot that among all the others and reach for it.
Kennedi is starting to sit up on her own a lot more. I will put her in a sitting position with a toy in front of her and she will play for a little bit and then get lazy and fall. Avery and I were sitting on the floor with her last night and she was sitting all by herself. We could not believe it. She had to be doing it for at least 90 seconds. We both kept looking at her and then looking at each other in amazement.
She has also started on the second stage foods. I have to say she likes these a lot more than stage 1. I do not know if it is because they are thicker or tastier (I do not see how any of them are tasty) but she can't get enough. We have been going through 2 packages of them each meal. I guess that will explain the growing. We do not go back to the Dr until the 12th but Chris guessed that maybe she is about 18 pounds. That is crazy to me since Avery was 19 at a year (I just had to look at his baby book for a project of his). Kennedi will only be 6 months old on the 7th! At this rate we will not have to worry about her being a flier if she chooses to take up cheer leading (although Chris and I both hope she chooses a different sport(s)).
Well I hear her up in her crib talking so I guess her nap is up. I have been going in to find her on her stomach after naps now. Its so cute but I think it freaks her out to be flipped in her crib.
Enjoy the pictures!!

Ahh We Survived!!!

Yes, we did!! Chris and I survived Avery's birthday party with 5 of his friends staying the night!! Of course we got them out of the house right away and headed bowling. Everyone had a great time and it was so funny to see the kids singing the 80's songs that were playing. I would never have been caught dead listening to the music my parents did when I was growing up. Oh wait, my parents listened to jazz and classical and all that horrible stuff whereas I still listen to the good stuff.. ha ha, kidding mom and dad (kinda).
Anyway, on the way home we stopped at blockbuster and rented a movie for the kids to watch. We all sat around and watched the movie and the boys fell asleep eventually (I guess, I went to bed). The next morning it was FREEZING out! I mean so cold that the pipe in the master shower was frozen. It took most of the day to thaw out. Luckily we had the choice of 3 other working bathrooms to use for showers.
The boys did not seem to mind the cold, they were outside almost as soon as they woke up playing air soft. Boys will be boys!! They had a great time and there were no casualties what-so-ever. I do sit and wonder if we will ever be able to have a sleep over when Kennedi gets older that is drama free... I am putting my money on NO!

Here is the latest for Kennedi... Chris and I went shopping and while at Babies R Us we saw a walker (a car one) that was on sale. Mom wanted something for her house and does not like Kennedi to be on the floor over there. I think that is an excuse just so she can hold her the whole time but we will see now. We picked up the walker for her and of course she had to test drive it when we got to Grandma and Papa's house. She was so cute. It took her only a few minutes to start pushing buttons and turning the wheel. We put her on the hardwood floor and that is all it took. She was off to the races. She hopped and pushed herself forward and loved it... here is the video...

Well I guess it is time to get some reading done. I finished one book and started another. Chris had to go back to work today after having 2 days off. The boys just left to go to their dads house. They went a little early today so They could do some celebrating with Avery for his birthday since they were not able to come to his party. Now if Kennedi would take a little nap I would really be able to enjoy some quiet..
